Michael Dixon is to seek re-election in the forthcoming local election. First elected in 2007, when he joined Robert Oliver as the second Conservative Councillor, Michael is currently Sunderland Conservative’s Housing Spokesman, as well as one of three Conservative Councillors appointed as vice-chair of the Council’s Scrutiny Committees.

Commenting on his selection Michael said, “The vast majority of our work is in the ward which I have to say I enjoy the most as we are able to work for local residents. However I have also tried to make a positive contribution in my roles within the Civic Centre both on committees and in the Council Chamber.

I am grateful for the support of my colleagues. The weeks leading up to the election are very busy but not that much different for Robert myself and Alan, as, along with our helpers, we have been delivering our newsletters to residents all-year round. I would never be comfortable just turning up at election time after long periods of inactivity.”
